2016 @ The Movies Take 13 "Room" I had high hopes for this new film by Lenny Abrahamson. "Frank" (2014) established that he is well-suited to depict a state of mental crisis in a subtle and engaging manner. When "Room" 's focus on the mother/child relationship at the expense of a more procedural approach overexploited by crime dramas is a welcome choice, the exploration of their inner world colliding with the outside is too timid. It quickly becomes too factual and does not visually translate the experience of the protagonists. Brie Larson and young Jacob Tremblay deliver a great performance, but seem ready for more opportunities that what they are given. Another aspect that brought down key scenes to the level of a Lifetime TV special is a very heavy-handed score that charts emotional responses instead of accompanying them. Maybe having the author of the novel, Emma Donoghue, write the script of the film limited directorial creativity, or maybe I was expecting way too much. Experienced at Wehrenberg Campbell 16 Cine the on January 26 in Auditorium 13 with Susie & Kurtis Newsome.

And now la chambre
